Then the card is mailed, which takes 5–7 business days. Use an address where you can get mail.

It offers primary care, behavioral health, an on-site pharmacy, help applying for financial assistance and Medicaid, social services, and referrals to specialty care, which is the path to surgery. Patients registered through the homeless clinic can get 100% financial assistance for eligible Broward Health services.
The clinic may ask for proof that you're homeless before you register. That proof often comes from the TaskForce Fore Ending Homelessness outreach team. Call first and ask whether a letter from Blue Waters on letterhead is enough. If they want the outreach team, the white vans are at these places every week:
Call the Homeless Helpline at (954) 563-4357 to confirm where the team is that day. Ask the outreach worker for a written homeless verification.
What to bring: photo ID (or whatever ID you have), your Social Security card or number, any insurance or Medicaid letters, proof of income or no income (pay stubs, benefits award letter, or a support letter), the homeless verification letter, and a list of your medications and past diagnoses.
Van schedule: Broward Partnership (checked Oct 2026). Times can change, so call the Helpline first.

A state safety-net program that provides seizure medication when you can't pay for it. You qualify if you live in Florida, you're uninsured (or can't afford your copay or deductible), your net family income is at or below 100% of the federal poverty level, you have $2,500 or less in savings and assets (not counting a home you own), and you're not on Medicaid. Fill out the application and send it with a recent prescription and proof of ID, Florida residency, income and any insurance. Prescriptions are picked up at a county health department or mailed to you. An Epilepsy Alliance case manager can help you apply.

Most seizures end on their own in a few minutes. Stay with the person and time it. Keep them safe: move hard or sharp things away and put something soft under their head. Turn them on their side if they aren't awake. Don't put anything in their mouth (no one can swallow their tongue), and don't hold them down. Stay until they're awake and alert. Call 911 if it lasts more than 5 minutes, another one follows, they're hurt or have trouble breathing, or it's their first seizure.

Mugshot websites in Florida cannot charge you to remove your booking photo. Under Florida Statute §901.43, you can send a written removal request, and the site must take the photo down within 10 calendar days, free of charge, and never repost it. If a site refuses or asks for money, that counts as an unfair or deceptive trade practice under Chapter 501, Part II, and you can sue to force removal, with penalties of $1,000 a day.
Have a conviction? You're still covered. Most sites only remove listings for dismissed, not-guilty, sealed or expunged cases. Florida law (§901.43) covers you even without that paperwork: any site in the business of publishing mugshots must remove yours for free within 10 days of your registered-mail letter.
[Your full name] [Your mailing address] [Date] SENT BY REGISTERED MAIL To: [Registered agent name] [Registered agent address] Re: Request to remove arrest booking photograph under Fla. Stat. § 901.43 To whom it may concern: I am the person shown in the arrest booking photograph published on your website at: [Exact URL of each page with the photo] Name shown: [Name as it appears] Booking/arrest date: [Date, if listed] Booking number: [If listed] Under Florida Statute § 901.43(2), I request that you remove this photograph and all associated information within 10 calendar days of receiving this letter, without charge, and that you not republish or redisseminate it. A copy of my government-issued ID is enclosed as proof of identity. Please be aware that under § 901.43(4), refusing to remove the photograph, or republishing it after this request, is an unfair or deceptive trade practice under Part II of Chapter 501, Florida Statutes, and § 901.43(3) allows a civil action for an injunction, civil penalties, and attorney fees. Please confirm removal in writing at [email address]. Sincerely, [Signature] [Printed name] Enclosure: Copy of photo ID
Most mugshot sites have their own removal page, usually linked in the footer as "Remove," "Removal," "Contact," or "Opt out." It's often faster than the letter. Never pay for removal. Have ready: the exact page URL, your ID, and court paperwork if you have it (dismissed, nolle prossed, not guilty, sealed or expunged).
Screenshot every request you submit. If nothing happens, send the registered-mail letter. The 10-day legal deadline starts once it's received.

Section 8 (the Housing Choice Voucher, or HCV, program) helps people with very low incomes pay rent in the private market. Each local housing authority runs its own waiting list. Most lists in South Florida open only for short windows, and every list below was closed or had no open window posted when we checked the official sites on Oct 6, 2026. Applying is always free. Status changes fast, so check the official link before you count on any of this.

A voucher pays part of your rent straight to a landlord who accepts it. Usually you pay about 30% of your adjusted income. Waits are long, often 2–7 years, and most lists are closed most of the time. When a list opens, it is usually online only for a few days, and many agencies pick names by random lottery, so applying in the first minute doesn’t help.

Florida Statute §1009.25 waives tuition and fees, including lab fees, at Florida public colleges, universities and school-district technical colleges for students who are homeless. Residents of recovery or transitional housing may qualify, but the college makes the final call. You'll need the Florida Student Homelessness Verification form (FSH-1), signed by an approved agency official and dated within 30 days of your payment due date. Ask the college's financial aid office which agencies can sign it. Once approved, the waiver usually carries over each year.

A car can make work, meetings and appointments much easier, but the license comes first. Every free car program and credit union loan below requires a valid driver license.
Steps, in order: (1) Check your license status and clear unpaid tickets or fees. A payment plan is available. (2) If you have a DUI suspension, complete DUI school and apply for a hardship (work-only) license. (3) Save for tag, title and insurance, since even free cars come with those costs. (4) Apply for a free car or get pre-approved for a credit union loan before you shop. (5) Avoid "buy here, pay here" lots, which often charge 20%+ interest and repossess quickly. Until then, see Transportation for free and reduced bus passes.

Look up your Florida license status for free and see every unpaid ticket or fee holding it up. Unpaid tickets can go on a payment plan, which you set up in person with your ID ($25 per case). Reinstatement costs $60 in person or $65 online once everything is cleared. Each spring, the Clerk runs Operation Green Light, which reduces late fees (the 2026 event was March–April).

After a DUI, you can apply for a hardship license (work and business driving only) at the Bureau of Administrative Reviews in your county. You'll need proof you finished DUI school and any court-ordered treatment. Before reinstatement, you must carry FR-44 insurance (higher liability limits) for 3 years. If the court or your conviction requires an ignition interlock device, it must be installed in a car you own or regularly drive.

Under Florida rule 15A-5.004, you generally must be seizure-free for 2 years before a license is issued or reinstated. If you're under regular medical care, you can apply after 6 months seizure-free, and the state Medical Advisory Board will review your case. After a single seizure with a normal EEG, the Board may reconsider after 3 months. Your treating doctor fills out the Medical Report form (HSMV 72423). Epilepsy Alliance Florida can help with the form too.
